Our competitive boys program is for serious gymnastics students who are interested in competing against other gyms while growing their overall gymnastics ability. They will perform the routines from the USAG Men's Junior Olympic program. There is a strong emphasis on developing discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills as well as physical strength and conditioning in a fun, supportive atmosphere.
There are two possible teams for your son.
Pre-Team Recreational League - The Pre-Team Recreational League allows your son the opportunity to compete his gymnastics routines in a safe, fun, "no pressure", and confidence building environment. Think of it as more of a recital than a competition. During competitions, your son will receive ribbons for each event based on how well he performs. This team practices 2 times a week with each practice being 2 hours.
Junior Olympic (JO) Team - The JO Team allows your son to compete against other gymnasts across the state and region. This is for the more serious and dedicated gymnast. During competitions, gymnasts will be judged and scored based on the difficulty and quality of their routines. Medals are awarded to gymnasts with the top scores on each event as well as the all-around score (all the events). This team practices 3 times a week with each practice being 2 hours.
There are additional competition fees, commitments, and expectations associated with these two teams.
Joining a team requires evaluation by the Boys' Team Coach. Selection to the team is based on skill level and not age, so there will be students of various age and maturity on the team.
